To most who know me decently well understand that it's my Birthday this month (March 2nd to be exact). Get your well wishing in now please before I continue. Some of you who are paying attention well enough also know March holds another Birthday which I have. 4 years ago this month I started these playlists. The Demise of the Indie Rock Playlist was born out of my wish to spread my love of music around to as many people as I could. I also wanted to see if I could show as many people as possible that there are alternatives to what is generally crammed in to your ears by major radio stations. There have been "membership" ups and downs: IK has stayed consistent, Blogspot is still ramping up, but the shutdown of Demonoid really hurt (over 2k per month). None the less I press on. So wish us a Happy Birthday on March 2nd and buy me a coffee if you're in Austin, TX.
Now, on to the music.
Yet another tough month for music. Maybe I'm just getting picky in my old age but there is a shitload of mediocre music put out each month. Current pet peeves:
- Please stop Mumford & Sons from propagating.
- Darkwave was over in September. Quit it!
- Enough fake folk. All your guitar riffs sound and drum entries the same.
I do hope you enjoy this scant (IMHO) playlist this month. It should provide some relief from the blahs you might be experiencing.
