The Demise of The Indie Rock Playlist - May 2013

Dear April,

Good riddance!

Time for more warm weather, sunshine, and lazing in the backyard. April musically started with a whimper but ended screaming like Jeff Magnum. Let's hope May can supply the quality of music the last 10 days has.

I'm not really in the mood to write so you'll have to excuse me when I shut up and tell you to enjoy.

The Demise of The Indie Rock Playlist - April 2013

April showers (the few that there are in Central Texas) bring May flowers (well actually...the flowers come in April but...oh whatever).

This April is an interesting month for me.  On the 8th I will officially have lived in Texas for a year.  This year has flown by faster than I could have imagined.  It has been filled with lots of good people, food, and (especially) music. So to all of those involved in this (new friends, chefs, and musicians) I say thank you for making the transition so smooth.

Now go grab these tracks before Gov Rick Perry decides uncork another bottle then concoct some more silly legislation.

The Demise of The Indie Rock Playlist - March 2013

Happy Birthday!?!

To most who know me decently well understand that it's my Birthday this month (March 2nd to be exact). Get your well wishing in now please before I continue. Some of you who are paying attention well enough also know March holds another Birthday which I have. 4 years ago this month I started these playlists. The Demise of the Indie Rock Playlist was born out of my wish to spread my love of music around to as many people as I could. I also wanted to see if I could show as many people as possible that there are alternatives to what is generally crammed in to your ears by major radio stations. There have been "membership" ups and downs: IK has stayed consistent, Blogspot is still ramping up, but the shutdown of Demonoid really hurt (over 2k per month). None the less I press on. So wish us a Happy Birthday on March 2nd and buy me a coffee if you're in Austin, TX.

Now, on to the music.

Yet another tough month for music. Maybe I'm just getting picky in my old age but there is a shitload of mediocre music put out each month. Current pet peeves:
  1. Please stop Mumford & Sons from propagating.
  2. Darkwave was over in September. Quit it!
  3. Enough fake folk. All your guitar riffs sound and drum entries the same.

I do hope you enjoy this scant (IMHO) playlist this month. It should provide some relief from the blahs you might be experiencing.
